With each trip of the shutter, light paints an image into a space where time stands still.

Every aspect of the technologies involved in photography has dramatically changed over the past decade. Film cameras have joined typewriters and vinyl LPs as relics of the past. Dark rooms have morphed into computers. And the chemistry that brought images to life has been replaced with ink jet cartridges.

But the click, click click, the 1/125th of a second flip of the shutter, which freezes light in time, has not changed. In that fraction of a second, a story is recorded.

You are invited to explore some of my stories posted here. Your comments, suggestions and questions are welcome.

And if, the next time you pick up a camera, you find yourself thinking about the story you are about to capture in time because of what you saw here, then this project has been successful.

This image was created for just for fun. The strawberry taster is Ashley Breen and the strawberry was off the shelf from Market Basket. I have to add that because so many people ask.
Agawam Dinner Rowley Mass
"Where is Rowley?" "Have you ever been to the Agawam Diner? That's Rowley." This institution is written up in newspapers and magazines all the time. It's a destination for bike and auto clubs the year 'round. I think I finally got it with this late night shot.

We were waiting for fall color to start before setting up this shot of Byron Matthews at the Old Newbury Golf Course, Byron's favorite. This was shot with the morning sun behind and a single speedlight to camera right with a 18 inch dome and diffuser.
Our Town, Rowley, MA, covers 14 square miles, stretching from Plum Island to Route 95 between Newbury and Ipswich. 7 of the 14 square miles is salt marsh. Click here to see some of Rowley's stories told in pictures. (The above photo of the Rowley Train Station, taken in December of 2007, was awarded Best of Show at the 2008 Topsfield Fair.)

Deer Isle, Me's July 4th celebrations were on the 3rd so the churches would not have to compete. The people, parade and the island's attractions are well worth a look! Click here for a video of the parade, too.

Dome Home, W. Newbury

I never imaged there could be so much space and vistas so interesting inside a dome house. Photographing this abode for Deb Hamilton's real estate listing was great fun.

Post Road Framers

Run by Karl and Gail Kastorf, Post Road Famers in Rowley Market Place, is one of my favorite places to just go and hang out. Their taste in art comes through both the selections offered for sale in their galleries and their ability to compliment any painting, watercolor or photo with just the right mat and frame design. Click here to visit their web site.
